verge of death; unfortunately, in the height of survival from enemy forces, Sasaki was
forced to fight Koun. Through fighting to the death, they befriended through the exchanges
of blows and strikes. Sasaki mourned Koun’s death at the end, he has no other
ways to understand a person other than “talking with swords”. The bloody cloth behind
him belonged to Koun, the cloud represents Koun’s legacy, as “Koun” directly translate
to “big cloud”. In this painting, I was trying to depict a wounded tiger being chased to
the edge of the shore, though with its eyes focused and ready to kill anoyone trying to
step into his killzone. The violent waves and rocks also adds to his untamed talents
and skills, with a sense of hostility.
